Questions and Answers
Question: what does "CERF" clear eyes and "OFA hip & elbow clearances" mean?
Answer: "CERF" is an acroyn for "Canine Eye Registration Foundation". It is a national registry for purebred dogs that keeps records of dogs that have passed eye examinations by a Certified Canine Opthamologist. This helps enusre that dogs are clear of inherited eye disorders, like progressive retinal atrophy, which causes blindness in dogs which are affected by it. "OFA" stands for Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. They study x-rays submitted by dog owners to ensure that the dog's joints are sound. Golden Retrievers, as well as other breeds, are prone to a genetic order called hip and elbow dysplasia. Both of these disorders are genetic hereditary diseases. By selectively breeding only sound dogs, breeders are able to ensure that their pups have the best possible chances of being clear of these disorders.
Question: Should I spay or neuter my new puppy?
Answer: All of our Golden Retrievers are sold on spay/neuter contracts plus there are many benefits to spaying and neutering. The risk of some types of cancer is significantly lower in spayed/neutered dogs. Males tend to mark territory less and are not running looking for females in heat. Females do not have the hormonal fluctuations and messy heat cycles. The list of benefits goes on. All of our Golden Retrievers are sold on Limited Registration which means you are not able to register any offspring or compete in Conformation but are eligible for all other events (field, obedience and agility)
Question: How much do your puppies cost?
Answer: The cost of the puppies varies from litter to litter. Prices will vary depending on the sire and dam, their accomplishments, and their pedigrees. Companion puppies start at $1,600. Our puppies come with a written guarantee and are healthy. They come from very strong backgrounds, with pedigrees that speak for themselves. We invest allot into our dogs health and training.
Question: Do your breeding practices focus on companion, obedience, hunting, or conformation?
Answer: All of the above! We have litters that lean towards conformation but can perform in the field as well as obedience and agility. Most are conformation oriented but I strive for the best temperaments. A Golden Retriever that is correct in their conformation will work all day in the field as well as agility and obedience but more importantly a Golden Retriever with the best temperament makes the best companions.
Question: Where do you raise your puppies?
Answer: The puppies are raised in our home through the age of 5 weeks, after which they are moved to our puppy play house, where they have room to explore, play, and can begin their housebreaking behavior. All of our dogs share our home with us, and are treated as part of the family.
Question: Do you evaluate the temperament of your puppies?
Answer: Because the pups are raised in our home, we know them all very well by the time they go home. I can tell you about each of their personalities and the hierarchy of the litter. We also do some fun stuff with retrieving (toys and bird wings!) before they go. We get to see a little about their working instincts that way.
Question: Will you take the dog back at any time in its life if for some reason we can't keep her?
Answer: Yes. If I couldn't keep him/her myself, I would certainly help place him/her for you.
Questions: Can I call you with questions or problems I may have with the dog once I take her home?
Answer: Yes! Always. If I don't have the answer, I have some great backups!
Question: Would it be possible to meet the dam and, if he is at your home, the sire of the litter?
Answer: Certainly. Please let us know when you would like to visit.
Question: Do you have references available?
Answer: Yes. You can visit our reference page. Please email for an extended list if you would like additional references.
Question: We are not in Oklahoma. Do you ship puppies?
Answer: Yes. We ship via major air carriers. We have shipped pups all across the country, and have had nothing but positive experiences. Cost is around $450, plus the cost of a puppy crate. Sometimes we have multiple puppies that fly together to cut down the cost.
